I absolutely had to share this with you, unless you already know of this trick. This is a sweet and delicious truffle recipe made out of dates and nuts. And you can basically customize it however you like.
My go to recipe is :
- 10 mejdool dates
- A handful of walnuts and/or peanuts
- 1 or 2 spoonfull of cacao powder
- A pinch of cinnamon
- Orange flower water or vanilla extract
- A large pinch of salt
- Optional : honey
- Decorate with sprinckles or cacao powder (or even crushed nuts)
Start by pitting the dates and put them in a food processor. If they are too dry, you can soak them in lukewarm water half an hour in advance.
Mix. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix roughly to obtain a malleable paste. If it does not stick, add a little water and pulse.
Form balls. If it’s too sticky, use a little orange blossom water before forming the balls.
Roll the balls in cacao powder or sprinkles.
I make these every week and the family loves it ! With 10 dates you can make a whole lot of truffles. You can also make a sesame version with tahini (sesame puree) if you have some. It’s also a lovely gift idea.
See ya !
